PC World - More people browsed the Internet last month with a device running Apple's mobile operating system, iOS, than used Linux to do so. That's a first for Apple, according to NetMarketShare, a firm that produces metrics on the market share of browsers, operating systems and search engines.

Inforama - Document Automation. Document templates, generation and distribution. Create letter templates using OpenOffice and import existing Acrobat forms. Merge data to produce high quality PDF documents and automatically email, print and view.
Inforama is a Java based Document Automation system which allows document templates to be created quickly and easily using OpenOffice. Templates are populated with data from parameters and databases before being generated into PDFs for printing and emailing. Version 1.2 includes some significant enhancements and bug fixes.
Hibernate and POJOs integration

Excel integration
It's now possible to merge documents with data from spreadsheets. This is particularly useful where data has been extracted from a main database in order to carry out one-off mailshots. Spreadsheet data can be extracted using SQL-like syntax providing more control over the rows which are included.
More output formats
Inforama now allows OpenOffice documents to be merged with data and returned as OpenOffice documents which can be edited further. This merging doesn't require OpenOffice to be installed on the machine running the Inforama engine which means that documents can be generated this way on Inforama Enterprise without having to launch OpenOffice.
Plug-in support
Inforama 1.2 introduces some basic plug-in development architecture which allows custom datasources and user screens to be defined. This feature will be extended further with some industty specific plugins in future versions. Look out for the plug-in which allows documents to be generated from data in Salesforce.

The Alpha_29.10 release was primarily to fix Bug #2786129 where it didn't compile correctly on big endian machines. It also eliminates some compile warnings when compiled on Mac OS X.

Recursive DNS resolver for Windows using query repetition and other techniques to defeat spoofing attacks, with basic authoritative functionality in addition. Coded in C#.
GbDns is intended to be a comprehensive solution to DNS spoofing.
The CERT vulnerability note, VU#800113 explains that you should "Run a local DNS cache". Also, it notes that NAT devices "can reduce source port randomness", which means that source port randomization cannot be relied on for security.
Instead of relying on source port randomization, GbDns defeats spoofing by sending the query two (or more) times, and checks the responses agree ( this is an over-simplification, but sufficient to understand the principle ). To the best of my knowledge, GbDns is the only DNS resolver that does this, and therefore appears to be the only secure solution to DNS resolution.
GbDns runs as a local recursive cache, and only takes a minute or two to install.

PC World - Apple's big overhaul of iTunes, announced Wednesday, turns the media management software into a fledgling social network thanks to a newly introduced feature called Ping. I would have expected more from Apple with this first attempt at building a community around iTunes. It's not all bad, but if Ping doesn't improve soon this music-oriented social network will bomb faster than an American Idol wannabe.
